The Days Are Evil
Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.
I was fascinated by the phrase the days are evil. My first reaction was to think that surely it must refer to the wasting of time.
Upon thinking more deeply, I came to the realization that all time that we spend here on earth is time spent away from the Lord. It's also time spent in the world where the god of this world is the devil.
We are constantly in enemy territory, and the enemy has the home field advantage. Every waking hour we spend, we are faced with the temptations of the world, the sin of the world, and the evils of the world.
Therefore, no matter how well we spend our time, if we don't focus on Christ, our days are evil. Because evil is the absence of good, and God is good, and being separate from God is evil.
Good is not subjective. Good is not an opinion. Good can have no room for interpretation.
But the world doesn't want us to realize that truth. The world will preach to us that the definition of "good" can change depending on the circumstance, depending on the person, and depending on the perspective.
That is why we must be careful with how we walk, not as unwise fools of the world, but as wise armed with the wisdom of God.
Every weekend I write about some thoughts, life lessons, and interesting things I came by for the week. I'd love for you to join.
