Cornelius Meets Peter
Cornelius, a centurion and a devout man who feared God, received a vision to seek out Peter. So he sends his servants out to find Peter. Peter arrived and preached the Gospel to Cornelius and those in his household, and they received the Holy Spirit.
Gentiles Receive The Holy Spirit
This marks the first time that any of the disciples shared the Gospel with a Gentile (non-Jew). Even more so, the Gentiles who heard and believed received the Holy Spirit.
Since Peter is a Jew, he follows the Jewish customs of making sure what he eats is clean, based on the old testament. But God taught him to look beyond discrimination of people based on their nationality.
You yourselves know how unlawful it is for a Jew to associate with or to visit anyone of another nation, but God has shown me that I should not call any person common or unclean.Acts 10:28
Salvation isn’t only for the Jews. It may have started with the Jews, but it then expanded beyond that. Anyone who is willing can receive salvation from Jesus.
Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.Acts 10:34-35
