The Command

"Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching." – 2 Timothy 4:2

Preach the word. In other words, share the Gospel. Don't try to hide it, and don't shy away.

Be ready in season and out of season. In other words, always be prepared. Don't let an idle moment pass for that's when the devil attacks us with temptations and falsehoods.

Reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. In other words, be ready to call out the sins of others. Don't shy away from giving them the truth.

Beware

"For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths." – 2 Timothy 4:3-4

For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching. Relating to the last point above, this is already happening. The danger with this is that the church is not immune. Christians in America will start believing that homosexuality is okay when it is not.

But having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions. Christians in America are looking for Pastors who embrace homosexuality as an acceptable trend. But this is really just sin and lying to them.

And [they] will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. You'd have to be pretty desperate to turn from truths and start believing in myths. The devil starts feeding you small lies that accumulate into bigger lies, and the most dangerous of them all is validation.

Persist

"As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry." – 2 Timothy 4:5

Always be sober-minded. Don't be deceived by myths and don't turn away from truth. Always fixate your eyes on Jesus so you don't get lost.

Endure suffering. The world will hate and despise you. Bear with it along with your fellow brothers and sisters.

Do the work of an evangelist. Preach the Word of God.

Fulfill your ministry. No matter what role you play in society (long-term missionary, social worker, employee, business owner), make sure to fulfill your ministry by doing God's work.

Persist until the end of the days, until you can say the following:

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." – 2 Timothy 4:7
