Life as a Christian is much harder than as a non-Christian. In addition to meeting the basic necessities of life, we must also face persecution in a fallen world where it's unpopular to be a believer.
In fact, it's unpopular to endure and go for the long-term gains. Social media proves this–they celebrate huge successes as if they were achieved overnight. But this mentality couldn't be further from the truth.
"that no one be moved by these afflictions..."
"we kept telling you beforehand that we were to suffer affliction, just as it has come to pass, and just as you know..."
These are just a few afflictions that we face.
"I sent to learn about your faith, for fear that somehow the tempter had tempted you and our labor would be in vain..."
Paul was afraid that the Thessalonians had reverted back to their old unfaithful ways. He sent Timothy to the Thessalonians, and upon hearing Timothy's report, was overjoyed.
"in all our distress and affliction we have been comforted about you through your faith..."
The endurance through the afflictions paid off! Though not every seed that we sow will bear fruit, the more seeds we sow, the more chances we have. And the better we nourish each seedling, the more likely they will succeed.
Every weekend I write about some thoughts, life lessons, and interesting things I came by for the week. I'd love for you to join.
